There’s a particular type of person who, when you visit their house, you immediately know owns a cat. Not because of the litter tray or the scratching post or the hair on the sofa — although yes, all of those — but because their entire home has been subtly redesigned around an animal that weighs four kilos and contributes nothing to the mortgage.
The cat has the best seat. The cat has its own blanket. There’s a water fountain in the kitchen that cost more than the kettle. Ginger cat owners are a specific and wonderful subset of cat people. They tend to be fiercely loyal to the colour, slightly defensive about the “ginger cats are mental” stereotype (it’s true though), and absolutely certain that their particular ginger cat is the most beautiful animal that has ever lived.

It’s £15.99, it’s ridiculous, and it has been bought as a birthday gift more times than any of us expected. Teenagers love it. Adults love it. We had one customer say she bought it for her home office because “meetings are more bearable when you’re being stared down by a kitten on drums.”
