I have a theory about dog people. You can tell how obsessed they are by their mug collection. Casual dog owners drink from whatever mug is clean. Moderate dog people own one mug with a paw print on it that they got from a Secret Santa. But the truly devoted — the ones whose phone wallpaper is their dog, whose Instagram is 94% dog content, whose conversations always somehow circle back to something their dog did this morning — those people have an entire shelf of dog mugs and they’re not even slightly embarrassed about it.

If you’re shopping for someone in that third category, you’re in the right place. And if you ARE someone in that third category, congratulations on being honest with yourself. Here are seven mugs we think you’ll love.

1. Starbarks Run?

Let’s start with the one that outsells everything else. The Starbarks Run? mug costs £5.99 and it’s genuinely the gift that keeps on giving. Not in a pretentious “gift that keeps on giving” way — more in a “this mug makes me laugh every morning and I’ve had it for six months” way.

The joke is simple. You know how you ask your dog if they want to go for a walk and they lose their mind? Same energy, but for coffee. It works because every dog owner has done the “do you want to…” voice, and every dog owner has felt judged by their pet’s enthusiasm for things.

We’ve sold hundreds of these. The review that made us laugh most was from a guy in Leeds who said his dog had knocked it off the counter twice and he’d ordered a replacement both times.

2. Bulldog Toilet Reading

I’ll be honest — when we first designed the Bulldog Toilet Reading mug, I wasn’t sure if it would sell or if people would think it was a bit much. Turns out, people absolutely love a bulldog on the loo reading a newspaper. Who knew.

It’s £5.99 and it is, without question, the mug people comment on the most. It goes in the bathroom, obviously (where else?), and it starts conversations that probably shouldn’t be happening in bathrooms but here we are.

It also makes a brilliantly awkward Secret Santa gift. Under a fiver if your workplace has a budget. Over a fiver if you want to buy two because you know someone else will want one too.

3. Labrador in Laboratory

A Labrador. In a laboratory. Wearing a lab coat. Looking genuinely concerned about the results.

The Labrador in Laboratory mug is £4.99 and it’s our cheapest mug but honestly one of the cleverest. It works on multiple levels — the pun (Lab… Labrador… Laboratory…), the image, and the fact that the dog looks way more competent than most people in actual laboratories.

Veterinarians buy this one a lot. We’ve also had a few orders from actual laboratory workers who said it was “uncomfortably accurate.”

4. Paws of Joy

Not every mug needs to make you snort coffee through your nose. The Paws of Joy mug is a gorgeous black and white design of a happy dog, and it’s for those mornings when you just want something warm and lovely to look at while you wait for the kettle to boil.

£5.99. Beautiful. Simple. The kind of mug you reach for on a Monday morning when the weekend felt too short and your dog is the only creature in the house who seems genuinely pleased to see you.

5. Bulldog Cleaning His Teeth

The Bulldog Cleaning His Teeth mug is pure fantasy. Any bulldog owner will tell you that getting a bulldog to do anything involving dental hygiene is like trying to negotiate with a furry, flat-faced diplomat who has already decided the answer is no.

And yet here he is, on this mug, brushing away with great enthusiasm. It’s aspirational. It’s £5.99. And it pairs perfectly with the metal framed poster of the same design if you want to really commit to the bit.

6. Vibrant Dachshund

Sausage dog owners are a different breed themselves (pun intended, sorry). They’re passionate, loyal, and slightly obsessive — much like their dogs. The Vibrant Dachshund mug is a burst of colour that captures that dachshund energy — low to the ground, high on life.

At £4.99 it’s one of our most affordable designs, and the colours are genuinely striking. This isn’t a mug that gets lost in the cupboard. This is a mug that announces itself.

7. Duke & Duchess

Duke & Duchess features two absurdly regal-looking dogs side by side. They look like they own a country estate and are deeply disappointed in the quality of the crumpets.

At £5.99 each, these make a fantastic pair — buy two and you’ve got a his-and-hers set for any dog-loving couple. Or buy one and keep the other for yourself. We won’t tell.

Why mugs work as gifts (every single time)

There’s a reason dog mugs never go out of fashion as gifts. Everyone needs mugs. Nobody buys themselves a funny one. And unlike chocolates or flowers, a mug sticks around — it becomes part of someone’s morning routine, and every time they reach for it, they think of you. For somewhere between £4.99 and £5.99, that’s a lot of daily goodwill.

All of our mugs are 11oz white ceramic, dishwasher and microwave safe, and printed in the UK. The prints are high quality and won’t fade — we’ve tested them, repeatedly, with very hot tea and a slightly aggressive dishwasher.
